Remember Rita Delvechio, the crabby-lady played by Cheri Oteri on Saturday Night Live? Kids are playing stickball in the street, they bat one out-of-bounds on to Mrs. Delvechio’s porch, and she yells back “You want your ball bacK? Yeah? Well, I’m keepin’ it!”
It seems that China is sending trains of aid to North Korea, and North Korea is not only keeping the aid shipments, they are keeping the trains as well. “Send a train across the border? I’m keepin’ it!”
With the shortage of rolling stock on Amtrak for a variety of projects, maybe we could set up cross-border trains with Canada and Mexico, and maybe “borrow” the train cars to fill in some other routes.
No matter how much the 40lb Badger swaggers and cusses how superior he is to everything else in the forest, its best not **** off the 1200lb Bear behind him thats been keeping all the other animals at a bear arms distance. Lets see what happens now that the 40lb Badger claims for his own, the lunch the 1200lb Bear was sharing with him…
Actually I wouldnt be too surprised if in the near future, we wake up one morning to find the N.Korea’s been invaded and occupied, by CHINA…afterall what could N. Korea do? all their guns are pointing the other way!
It begs the question to say that, that Gargoyl, Kim Jong Ill is a loose canon,
who is going to shoot himself in the foot. China will probably volunteer to point it.
Never, ever thought I’d say this, but China taking over N. Korea would actually be an improvement. I’d like to see Kim Jong (Mentally) Il out of a job.
Next, NK will say that China is obliged to supply them with spare parts as part of the “aid program”.
A more apt comparison is that NK is a secular cult and Kim Jong Ill is the leader. Unable to compete in the world economy, they’re forced to engage in organized crime, drug trafficking, money laundering, and kidnapping. They are the source of the notorious ”supernotes”, counterfeit U.S. $100 bills.
Most Westerners don’t know that hatreds run deep and long in Asia. Pre-20th century Europe was one happy family compared to Asia. China, ancient Asia’s superpower, had a habit of overrunning and subjugating its neighbors, Korea, Vietnam, etc. The Japanese, like the English, despised everyone on the mainland. They tried to conquer China twice, once in the 16th century and again in the 20th. (Talk about an ambitious country.) They would have completely overrun China in 1940’s had they had enough soldiers to occupy it and alternate sources (from the U.S.) of strategic materials. Both times Korea happened to be on the way and they devastated it.
From what I’ve read, N. Koreans deeply resent China because of these ancient hatreds and especially for their present day dependence on China. Their hatred of the U.S., though seemingly intense, is more superficial. Anyone who thinks China has influence with NK out of comradely friendship is deeply mistaken, China has a stranglehold over NK’s supply of food and strategic materials. That’s what grates on the N. Koreans. I take it an indication of the how dire the problems are in NK that they’re willing to risk alienating one of the few allies they have. The reason that China hasn’t been tougher in dealing with NK is that it fears that if NK collapses, millions of refugees will stream over the border into China and
So the N. Koreans hate China, U.S.A., Bolivia, Cuba, Iceland, Trinidad and SOUTH Korea, seems they don’t like a LOT of people, maybe if they antagonize the Chinese population enough, all 189 billion will just move in and take over.
