Air lines & unit coal trains

On the BNSF with unit coal trains (this train had rotary dumpers) all of the brake lines are on one

side of the car. The air brake lines do not cross under neath the coulper. What is the advantage/

reason for this set up ?

The hose is located such that the car can be turned in a rotary dumper without disconnecting the air hoses. The car is rotated a little less than 180 degrees and then back in the opposite direction. The center of rotation is inline with the couplers. If the hose passed under the coupler the hose could be pulled apart.
