air-powered turnouts

I have acquired a small air compressor (1.6 A @ 115V for $7). If I were to hook it up to a ‘distributor’ (in-out or closed-open) then to a momentary air switch then to a piston (which is mounted underneath the turnout- I use Peco turnouts). I know that I would be saving a lot of space under my layout other than an electrical configuration. Does anybody have any information on my idea?

Do you mean HO scale? If you ask this on the Model Railroad general forum you should get a few replies. A company used to make equipment for air operated turnouts, like the valves and pistons but I haven’t seen their ads for a few years though.

Contact Delair, They market air power switches. Not sure on all of thier applications, but they do make stuff for G scale garden stuff.

I have 20 gargraves turnouts powered by th DELAIRE system. It works just fine, although I use a 8 gallon air tank for a resevoir. It has a fill valve and there is compressed air piped into the trainroom from the garage. Cost for the entire system was about $400. I bought this at a Greenberg Show from a elderly gentleman representing GANDY DANCERS INC whom I beleive where located in Ohio

Is Delair still in business.
