airbrush feeds

What is your preference when it come to the type of feed for your airbrush? Bottle feed, cup feed , gravity feed or syphon feed.

The cup/ bottle thing is more about how much you have to do and how much weight you want to hold. I prefer the large cup myself. I’m pretty sure if you’re looking at a gravity fed gun that your stuck using the container on the brush itself. I use syphon, but more importantly, I use an internal mix syphon using a large cup, compared to the external mix brush. Mine is a Model Master from many years ago, which is now the Aztec. It’s not a bad air brush but takes a bit of practice. I think if I had to do it over again, I would probably now go with the pasche internal mix, more because it’s made of my favorite material- METAL. There’s been many battles of the airbrushes in past posts if you care to go through the search.

I’ve got a Pasche external mix airbrush, and I love it. Cleaning is a bit of a chore, but I know, sortof know what I’m doing. Sortof, key word here. I’m still having trouble getting the needle lined up right. But it is easy to clean. Personally, I use the small paint jar. Just make sure there are no clumps. An added plus is that if you are weathering, line up all your weathering mixes up and spray away.

I prefer a bottle with syphon feed as I tend to get pretty clumsy with the airbrush and also hold it at odd angles that would dump the paint out of a gravity feed cup.
