I recently purchase what seems a dandy little modest airbrush and compressor from an online retailer in Ontario. I learned that it uses a non-npt thread standard, but that this is the common thread type among many brands of airbrush/compressor makers…IWATA brand for example.
…except Badger, who have supplied me with a little mini sandblaster. This also seems dandy for my purposes but it uses npt thread standard and does not connect properly with my compressor. I can fit/jam an reduction adapter on the compressor male fitting a bit with teflon tape and it will probably will work ok (going to try it this afternoon).
But my question is, has anyone used surgical hose or something of that type over a push-on air hose fitting. My airbrush came a push on connector that I could use with the Badger piece, I suppose. Do you think the surgical hose would work at the 0-40 PSI max., maybe with a little zap strap around the hose to keep it tight???
Alternately, does anyone know a supplier of Chinese-maybe metric-Iwata type thread to npt standard threaded fittings?
With a quick google search of iwata to npt I found this link 8ty8beauty.com/airbrush/other-airbrush.htm the third or so item down is a hose with npt fittings on one end and iwata on the other. I presume there are more such suppliers out there with a little looking. I have never used this website myself and hope posting this link doesn’t violate forum rules.
Surgical tubing is not rated for the pressures you will be using. You need something that is reinforced such as reinforced Tygon tubing or toher pressure rated tubing. You would be better off with the npt to Iwata adapter mentioned by the previous poster.
That is what is great about these forums. I just found out that my airbrush uses the same fittings as Iwata and had not searched using that term. After your tip, I found not only what I needed for an Iwata to Badger adapter, but good prices on quick disconnects…both at another site in California…called Coast Airbrush Products. They seem to have really good prices.
