Airbrushing Structures

What’s a good airbrush for painting HO scale buildings?

Paasche model H

Always worked well for me…

Me Too! For the past 30yrs. Never had to replace anything on it either. Cleaned with strictly lacquer thinner. I do have a couple dual action VL’s that I use for other projects, but the H-model is My go- to.

Take Care! [:D]

I bought a Badger “Cresendo” at the advice of a friend. It’s a dual action, I love it. I don’t know how this compares to the Paasches above, in terms of price or quality. But it is all metal where it counts, and easy to get the hang of. Super control!

I do all of my general painting using a Harbor Freight Tools single action airbrush (virtual clone of the Badger 350). I also bought one of their dual action airbrushes for detail work. You will see lots of reviews stating these airbrushes are junk but both work quite well for me. I would surmise that the nay-sayers don’t really understand how to use an airbrush and/or they don’t own a decent compressor with regulator. I shoot mostly acrylics and have had no problems shooting craft paints. Just thin the paint adequately, use an appropriate air pressure, be patient with the paint coverage and keep the airbrushes as clean as possible. If you have never used an airbrush before and you really think you need a name brand product, I would suggest buying the HF single action airbrush first, learn to use it, clean it, and what not to do with an airbrush before you spend a lot more money for a name brand unit. Chances are that if you can’t get the HF airbrush to work, you won’t be able to get a name brand airbrush to work either. The purchase of the HF airbrush is a cheap way to find out whether you possess the skills to use an airbrush.

Harbor Freight’s dual action brush is my go-to for airbrushing.

When needed, I also have a single action brush, but it rarely gets used now that I have the dual action one. Once you get the hang of a dual action brush, they provide a very nice paint job.

Thanks for all the quick replys i think i’ll go with the Paasch H[:D]

I have had mine for 30 yrs and use it for everything. I have replaced the O rings and tips lover the years and love it.
