What does aisleway mean?
In what context?
Ooops. Didn’t mean to post that just yet. The dictionary defines "aisleway"as a (noun) – a passage for inside traffic within a building or vehicle; synonym for aisle. Any halfway decent dictionary or dictionary.com will get you there.
Where you walk between two sections of your layout.
Here is some examples.
- A passage to allow relatives access to guest bedrooms. The wife said it wasn’t wide enough. I said it is the same width as the doors and if they can’t walk down this aisleway they can’t get into the room anyway.[:-,]

- Another example is an isleway to gain access to part of the layout.

- Or access between two benches of the layout.

Good examples of aisles given by Brent.
Here is an aisle…a passage for movement between two surfaces…on my new layout. The narrowest point is 19", plenty for me and all my guests…so far.

I suppose I’d say it’s a path through the train room that looks fine when you build the benchwork, but always ends up being too narrow.
UH-OH! Sounds like an issue caused by retirement. Better start playing Hockey twice a week.[(-D]
What are you using for a fascia? I really like the natural wood look.
John
It is mahogany veneer 1/4" plywood, John. It looks good in the photo light, but not so great in the loft’s natural light. After reading quite a few posts with opinions about what colour to paint one’s fascia on several forums across the www, I settled on a darkish green, which it now is. I’ll post a photo soon.

OK, you have had lots of information. Now why were you asking?
I was asking because I’m a newbie, and this word comes up very often, and i wanted to no what it meant , and how it referred to building my first layout. I assumed it meant space, Train, Model Railroading terminology is new to me, and find myself using the dictionary a lot.
And using the dictionary a lot is bad because…? I can tell you why it’s GOOD: because it means that you can make progress on your own, and when you do post a question here, it’s one that you can’t solve for yourself and need the advice of folks who aren’t so new to help you through.
