Effective Sept 12, 2008, Dispatcher 10 and train operations will move to new frequency 1717 from 5757.
5757 will be dedicated to Maintenance of Way operations.
I am baffled by this.
My reference material shows the Dispatcher previously on 57 (160.965) and Maintenance of Way on 17 (160.365).
Why would they now swap frequencies so the DS is on 17 and MofW on 57?
It sounds like the Alameda Corridor wants to SPLIT the Dispatcher Radio Traffic AWAY from the Maintenance Radio Traffic. This is likely due to heavy radio traffic in this part of the major Los Angeles terminal area.
This is just my educated guess about the likely motivation for this radio frequency change.
