“Dakota & Iowa” is a nickname for the corporate name D&I Railroad. In the same neighborhood, the Minnesota Southern has suffered an estimated $900,000 in flood damage in the Luverne, MN area. The Sisseton-Milbank RR in northeast SD has also been damaged.

The good news with the D & I is they do have a usuable detour. They can go west at Canton, and then go south at Mitchell to reach Sioux City. They would be running on BNSF track, but they allow BNSF to use their Canton to Sioux City line, so that shouldn’t be a problem.
