Alaska Railroad may face budget cut in transportation bill

If the justification for reduction is nobody traveling to and from work and home, suggest that without the Hurricane Turn a chunk of Alaskan cabins would be not just inconvenienced but virtually isolated.

I honestly can’t recall any funding reductions to aviation or roadways.

Wow, just like other hair brain idea’s by the Republicans, this makes no sense! 30 million means nothing to the FED GOV, but it is to the State of Alaska! Just so NO to cut backs in Amtrak, Public Transportation or AKRR! Write to your elected officials today to push for stable or increased funding for AKRR, Amtrak and transportation projects throughout the country.

For service and scenery the Alaska Railroad is up there with the best. As an overseas tourist I loved it and plan to come back. DON’T cut any funding from it. In fact, America once had a wonderful railroad network, the envy of the world. Wouldn’t it be nice if the government tried to improve what’s left rather than destroy it.
