Alcohol and Dullcote

I was working on some scenery, and forgot to move some rolling stock away from where I was working. Anyway, some alcohol overspray got on the models, resulting in white splotches.

Oops!

A tip that was passed on to me by another forum member, was to just respray with Dullcote. Voila!

This also happened to me on a Dullcoated B&O F3. Was cleaning wheels as usual w/ alcohol paper towel, too much on my fingers and smudged the darl blue paint. It actually looked rather like a fine weathering fade of the dark Enchantment paint that is quite normal on these older engines. A bit of swiping w/ more alcohol and a slight fog w/ airbrush weathering both A units to match years of service. Later I found that this method is used as a weathering step. And as you found a recoat will retuern to original condition. Fade can be seen alond the lower sides and skirting.

What am I missing here? The 2 passenger cars are different. [:^)]

I took the first picture after I had sprayed the first car. It was still wet, so I just used a picture of the first car to show the results… Actually, I just turned the car around… that’s the other side…

Marlon, one’s a combine, the other a coach. Did your mishap spatter all those overland cars? Regardless, the recoating solves the problem. Love those, never did end up w/ the true Silverton narrow guage ones, only the Roundhouse stand-ins.

To answer your question, yes, all of them got spattered. I will be moving them in the future BEFORE I spray. I could only find the Roundhouse stand-ins, as well.
