Let’s see what gets done first, this station in Ft. Lauderdale or the expansion of the station in Albany-Rensselaer.
All Aboard Florida should consider reinstating the FEC railway line to Key West. There is a potential tourist and business market for train service between Miami and Key West; and, between Key West and Orlando (extending to Tampa later). Henry Morrison Flagler would be quite pleased.
Paul, I agree; some would think it an outrageous stretch, but I often wished I could have been around and ridden the Key West extension. Never say never! Those bridges across the keys are still mostly in very solid condition. A testimony to real workmanship, even after 100 years…
It appears that both Florida and California now have their state’s high-speed rail projects finally under construction. It’s going to be interesting to see which one of them will actually turn the first wheels of service. My best to both states to get the job done and done right!
