Here’s another shot from my trip back east, tracks four and five at CRRNJ Terminal in Jersey City, with the board on the left set for the Queen of the Valley, a train I would have killed to have ridden.

Also, here’s a shot of a Susquehanna S2 on display in Maywood. I used to ride my bike to Maywood all the time as a kid, hoping and praying to see one of Susquehanna’s Alcos go by this location. Never ever ever saw one. Now, I can see one any time.

Thanks for looking… and as always, corrections are welcome.
Uhhh - that would be TRACK 5 - otherwise, you’ll be on the 2-00 P.M. HIGHLANDS EXPRESS instead.
Nice natural-looking landscaping in the background - oh, wait . . . too bad they can’t keep the weeds down to a reasonable height. But I suppose we should be grateful for what’s been saved - those signboards are nicely done - and still lit from behind, it appears.
And the S2 at Maywood - WOW ! That has to be the sharpest paint job I’ve ever seen on a preserved diesel switcher, and one of the best websites for such a group. Kudos to them ! I suppose that’s the NYS&W main line in the foreground ? Looks like it might be an interesting place to spend an afternoon.
Thanks for sharing !
Not only did I mess that up… I messed that up after looking directly at the image… good job, me.
As to the S2, it is a great looking engine and yes that is the Susquehanna’s Southern Division main right in front of it. That line sees at least one round trip local freight a day and a thrice-weekly long distance manifest round trip passing throgh. Before the Conrail break up, there were stacks going through there. Thirty three years ago, when I was biking to that location, it was the once a day local freights only (and there were still two tracks, dating back to Erie days, when the Susquehanna was an Erie subsidiary). Forty-two years ago, commuter trains still ran there.
