All Access Pass

I am new to this forum, but not to model railroading, or the magazine. I am not a subscriber but recently went looking to buy the 75 year DVD. I tossed my 50 year magazine collection in my last move. I really want access to those old MRs. I saw the ad in the November issue but am curious about details. Another magazine I read, Biblical Archaeology Review has a similar all access subscription giving access to 40 years of their magazine, plus all kinds of extras for about $35 a year. I expect the MR one to be higher than that, but want more information. Does anyone have any?

I don’t think the fine-print details, including price, have been worked out or announced yet. We did have a discussion of this very topic a while back, though:

I have read that. I really wish the DVD was still available. I have no interest in the current MR or for that matter, the last 20 years but really want access to the old issues. My fear is the inclusion of videos and a new subscription will price this out of my budget.

I have purchased and enjoy both the Trains and MR DVD sets. They’re well done and indexed well. They are of the original mags, so be prepared to see the same coloring that was there 75 years ago.

BTW, I too found the older mags to be a better resource than the new ones. I really severly dislike the new format on the how to articles. They are too short and do not include enough info in what seems to be a pursuit for a quick read format. They could do a step by step, IF it’s truly that vs skipping several. There are so many new things happening that could be covered and need to be in detail. I think it’s sad that you can get better info sometimes off of a free website than paying for a magazine.

It was truly a reference source and I know the knowledge is within the organization so that it could be again, PLEASE.

I agree with you Richard and I also believe that it has to do with nostalgia. I grew up reading the MR from the 50s, 60s and 70s and sometimes we have a soft spot for our youth. I know I loved reading those articles by Linn and the gang!
