We do that in financial (credit cards) customer service as well. I’m in a similar spot as csxengineer98. Hard sometimes to descide between being at home and building on the old savings account to pay Santa Clause. Decisions, Decisions

I’m not a railroader but I’ll be working Saturday and Sunday whenever they call me. We’ll have time to get to the big family party on Christmas Eve and then I’ll come home and get on the board.

After the present-opening frenzy on Christmas morning we usually just sit around not doing much for the rest of the day anyway, so I may as well work. It’s really just another day to me and my kids are still too little to care very much.

Nora-

What became of your clerk/driver job?

LC

Well since I told CSX to pack sand and am a Road Foreman for a shortline, I think I will take the whole weekend off!!!

Thanks for asking.

I’m just waiting to hear back on the results of my background check and drug test (I have no worries about either; I passed both back in August and I haven’t gone on any crime and drug sprees since then). Last time it took about 2 weeks to hear and this coming Monday will mark 2 weeks, but I’m guessing it could take longer with the holidays and all.

Until I hear otherwise I am still working the Renzenberger job on weekends.

Chris! Where have you been? How’s the baby? Road Foreman? Come on, you can’t just let that drop and not give details…Get on MSN sometime, I know a bunch of us would like to hear from you.

Nora-

Glad to hear it. I’ll look forward to hearing more in the new year. I remember well my days at LETS at Conway during the Conrail years. Seemed like a nice, busy terminal to work in. Have a great Christmas and New Year.

Work??? At my teminal!!! There’s no way! Every engineer is laid off sick or weather, so trains aren’t going anywhere!!! In fact, trains won’t even make it this far north because no crews are working out of Evansville either. I bet some trainmasters are pulling their hair out about now! But, they had it coming… and that’s about all I say on that subject.
I was bumped off my yard job, so I lost my holiday pay. But, the idiot who bumped me can’t get it either. I’ve been displaced for over 48hours now, and I will continue to be because the company never called to inform me I was bumped, instead they type in my history that I was notified at tie up! That’s funny, there was no statement at the bottom of my time ticket saying I was bumped, and no phone call made to me. My regular off days were Wed/Thrs and then my job is layed in tonight, so I technically shouldn’t even have to worry about anything till Christmas morning. Well, enough of my rambling… MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT!

There won’t be bunch train watching to do in my parts, CP is shutting down for a good few days (something to do with the computer system), and I can’t imagine CN is running too many trains.

thats the beuity of it…i dont have any bills to santa clause… didnt use my any creadit to by anything this year…so the money isnt that big of a deal this year…

Now that is just flat unAmerican!!! What if nobody used their credit cards at Christmas time? There wouldn’t be any goods being shipped, no need for trains, railroads would go out of business and all because you didn’t want to have to work Christmas to pay bills.

See all the trouble you caused??

i think you missunderstood… i didnt say i bough stuff for christmas…i just said i didnt use any credit cards to do it with… i did my part in helping to make the chines richer…and keep the freigth moveing…as a consume and as an engineer

Oh, OK. I’m sorry, my bad. Probably just a little streak of envy on may part.

Jay

There was a notice put out from CSX that requires you to call the Voice Response Unit to check on your status before leaving your off duty point.
