… that my video covering this same material (and more) with demos will release July 22.
Others on here who have gotten my other two video volumes may want to comment on what they thought of them. And if anyone has any questions about the 5-volume video series, be glad to answer any questions.
i have vol #1 of joe’s video series and i liked it a lot . now i just have to decide , should i order #2 (scenery) next or #3 (DCC) ? kind of makes sence to me to order #3 next because the electrical needs to be done before scenery , right ?
Actually, volume 2 is Design and Construction, and volume 4 (due out by the holidays this fall) is Scenery.
So volume 2 (design and construction) does come before volume 3 (DCC). [:D]
I’ve been away for a couple of days enjoying the 4th holiday, and haven’t been anywhere near a computer until now, otherwise I would have answered sooner.
From my understanding, you also cover DCC “sound installations” as well. I have a friend who is excited about DCC. He’s read about DCC fundamentals, however, he is more of a “visual learner”. So a video like this would be very helpful to him.
Yes, volume 3 on DCC covers installing a Soundtraxx DSD decoder step-by-step in a Kato SD45. We figure out how to find space in the loco for the decoder and the speaker, and demonstrate the entire installation process in front of the camera.
The installation process includes some extra little goodies. I show you how to build an 8 pin DCC plug for the Soundtraxx decoder so you can just plug it into any 8-pin DCC socket (the Soundtraxx decoders don’t come with plugs), and how to build a simple plug for the speaker so you can disassemble the loco easily for maintenance.
And there are more tips, hints, and tricks included throughout the 100 minute video, which has many demos on DCC wiring, decoder programming, speed matching and consisting locos, installing working loco headlights, and installing/programming sound decoders.
If you’ve ever wanted to have someone who’s been doing DCC for a while show you the ropes, this DVD does just that.
Hey it sounds great. I have been looking at alot of info on installing DCC and I do not want to make the mistakes I made on my first layout… Looking forward to it . Joe
