Almost there!!!

I have finally completed the paint job on my Milwaukee road SD-10. She looks pretty. I have been working on this model for about six months. In all I think I spent about 5 to 6 hours on it, and remember this is spread out in a six month period.
This loco used to be a GN SD-7. Sorry for all you GN fans.[:D] My dad helped me chop the nose and paint it but I took on the job of cutting part of the tank off. I also put the air tanks back under it, painted the the detail parts like the handrails and painted the men inside. I aloso took the time too DCC the thing up. It was quite a project and it’s almost complete.
Just need decals now which I have. (thankfully)

The paint job in the picture doesn’t look as good as it does. The orange is a little darker and not so bright. The areas of paint that smurred just a little will be blended in with weathering techniques which I have learned over the last few years.

I wanted to see what you guys thought!

James

Looks great. You did a wonderful job.

That is an outrage, I will have your head for this!!! [8D][8D][8D][:D][:D][:D]

Just kidding. Actually looks like a very nice job. Keep up the good work.

Now for the fun part…LETTERING!!! (this is where I usually choke[xx(])

I love the Milwaukee colors. Excellent job.

Sorry there, Student of the Big Blue Sky. I thought you woudn’t like that I painted a GN unit, since you’re name gives it away. But hey the GN had low nose geeps and older sd’s units just not of an SD10. Just think of it as a GN SD10. You can dream can’t you.
Ya, lettering…whoopee.[|(] but ohh well.[sigh] If you’re building a unit there is always going to be some type of lettering.

Thanks for the compliments.

James

Nice job there!!!. Who makes the loco??? Tim

Any time you can match a light color and black next to each other without a mess, you’ve done well. I like it! [tup]

Proto 2000 made the locomotive and like it I said it was an SD7 but I made it into a low nose unit. The loco runs quite well with DCC.

James

Very nice job, James! Very unique piece too! I would like to some day chop the hood of an SD9, to make it an MRL GP9!
