Way Athearn made a loco to run alone, like the F59PHI Amtrak and Amtrak California? They didn´t make the Surfliners cars, and have no plans to make it.
If Athearn doesn’t make them, I’m sure somebody else does, though I can’t find anything on them at walthers.com
Walthers makes Superliners and those locomotives do pull them on occasion.
Correct. The superliners are carried by Con-cor, Microscale and Walther’s.
I’ve got one of them in N scale and I use to pull some Kato Superliners. If you look up on Railpictures there are pictures of the F59PHIs with Superliners before the AmCal and AmWest cars where delivered and even a few after they where delivered. Sometimes you can find a pair of them on the Coast Starlight.
I prefer to call them “Caltrak”
(“Amtrak California” is a project funded by the California state dept of transportation (aka CalTrans) and operated by Amtrak).
Interesting to note that the ONLY commerically available Surfliner cars are in Z scale!!!
Overland did a run a couple of years ago in HO, but I am sure if they did them in N. I see them on eBay from time to time. Union Station Products is doing the California cars now. Union Station Products may also do the Surfliners, but I haven’t seen anything on that. You may want to contact them and ask them really nice if they would produce some Surfliners.
I wish someone would make some amtrak california cars in N…
They do them in N scale too…
I have never painted a model train, not sure I want to either. Might screw it up. I am more of the… rtr type… : )
Uh, not quite. Read the last line of each page from those links:
“The kits are available in HO scale only and don’t include interiors.”
Thanks to everybody. About Con-cor, Microscale and Walther’s, does anybody know which is better?..and the Walthers, are really ready to run, or must we put the decals?. Thanks
