Alstom wins contract to overhaul Baltimore light rail cars
This is great news for our Southern Tier of NY area. Upstate NY and needs this kick in the pants. Also, the first CAF Amtrak cars are ready for transport out to Pueblo, CO.
Trains should investigate how much the MBTA spends per car to overhaul it’s subway vehicles in house. $3M per car for an extra 15 years of life sounds like a bargain.
Hi Drew! Can you elaborate anymore on the Caf (viewliners) cars you say are ready for shipment to Pueblo?
There is supposed to be 2 sleepers/2 diners/2 baggage/and 2 baggage/dorms going there?
Thanks…
Manufactured or arrived post 1992.
I started flying out of KBWI in March 1992 and they were not yet operational until April of that year.
The original line of the Baltimore light-rail did not include the line into BWI that came later. The cars were purchased for the startup of the original line, so they significantly predate the start of BWI service.
