I just received my prints from ALVIN STAUFER. These are B&W drawings that ALVIN did himself. They are wonderfully done. Each print of a Steam Engine is 35 x 14 inches, and cost only $8.00. Thats right 8 bucks! $4.00 for shipping. Send a SASE to ALVIN and he will send you a brochure. His address is

I just sent out for 4 more prints. You won’t be dissappointed. Road names are NYC, PRR, NPR, UP, SP, B&O, really cool, thought YUZ GYZ wanted to know.
I just, now looked at his illustrations, you’re correct he puts in so much detail and his technique is so great that the prints appear, as if, to be photographs.
I got Alvin Stauffer’s prints of the NYC Niagara and the NYC Hudson back in the late '60’s. They still hang on the wall in my train room. A little yellowed but the detail is still as crisp as ever!!! Well worth whatever I paid for them back then.
I got them both too along with the GG1 and UP Challenger. Just fantastic detail. I am now making frames for them and will be purchasing the NYC Bershire, NYC 999, PPR k4. Can’t beat the price at 8 bucks a print. Gee back in the 60s probably was 2 bucks a print?
I remember reading his ads in Trains when I was a kid and marveling at his prints and dreaming about the day I could afford his books. I was stunned and amazed when I discovered he sets up at York and have had many fun conversations with him. I’ve only seen him once since they expanded the show time - He was normally there on the first day only (in the old purple hall), but if you see an older gent selling Staufer prints and books at York, it is probably Al.
