Am. Flyer #14 Rectiformer

Can anyone help me in identifing the correct vacuum tube for the #14 rectiformer?

Does anyone know of a wiring diagram for this transformer?

Was this produced only as a 150 watt unit.

I’ll see what I can find out

Here it is $39

I don’t have the schematic diagram; but I would bet that you could replace it with (a couple of) silicon rectifiers, that would do a better job than the tube–unless you want it completely authentic.

Here’s a guy who has them: http://www.mail-archive.com/s-trains@yahoogroups.com/msg00202.html

For normal DC operation I use a recifier I made. When I want to look really cool I’ll use my 14 or a transformer and my 15.

You can make a rectifier a lot cheaper than $39. I’ll try and post picture of the one I made later.

Dear Jim,

Many thanks for the information. It is getting me closer to restoring this unit to its original operating condition.

Any thoughts on the 100watt rating (my unit) and the official 150 watt rating ( stated in all Am Flyer info. that I have come accross so far?

I am still trying to find a wiring diagram.

Here is the rectifier I wrote about

Dear Jim,

Thanks for the photos; Ihave made this set before; what I really want to do is restore the #14 to its original operating condition.

Many thanks,

Mc

That’s neat. I would do the same thing.
