am i asking to much?!?!?!

Hey people!

I got good news… i can extend my board to 2*9 and possibly a little end L bit.

Am i asking to much to want to fit these in n scale in that space?

Mine
Coal Refuelling Station (for steamers)
Grain elevator
Crop field
Farm - (where do cattle cars from a farm go to?-that wont take up much space)
Ladder Yard
2 Stations

So am i asking to much? Im looking at plans and there just notwhat i want. what do you suggest? Those are the 3 industries (mining, cattle, Grain)

what should i do??

many thanks

So what is 2*9?
What dimension is it? 2 ft 9 inches, 2.9 meters?
Width, length, square?

I wouldn’t normally expect to see theose 3 primary industries together. Mining tends to destroy the land and ruins it for farming and cattle.

If I was going to do it I would make one station or both an interchange and not worry about paired industries.

oh its 2 by 9 feet.

thanks and can i fit all these?

If your modeling in N scale it should work out pretty good. I would draw it out on paper or us a track plan software, and see what it looks like too.

I could slam a nice On30 layout in 2’ x 9’, so hell yeah, N scale will work.

I couldn’t because my mine is in a mountain and that takes a lot of space. I want my trains to run through farm land to pass a field and that takes space. I am going to end up with a bunch of dioramas, but there will be a railroad between them.

That sounds cool, Art.

Well, yes and no. Depends on how you define each industry. When I had a 2x8 N-scale layout I had a major mine, grain elevator, one station, stock yard, and a staging yard. So that’s close. I had a water tower so it would be fairly easy to add the coal.
On the other hand if you are talking Hutchison Kansas type grain elevators that one industry would consume the entire space as could a ladder yard.

I just happen to put this on-line yesterday for a post over in the layouts form so —>
