My wife and I are building a 4x8 N scale layout just for her and come spring time I will be building a G scale outdoor railroad around the pool and garden. HO will always be my main scale to model in.
Oh no,I like my HO Scale Models. No N Scale for me. Allan.
That’s the best one yet!
I got an N scale loco for my birthday, and I am building an N layout, but my heart is still pure HO!
God works in ALL things, big and small, even N scale! [8D]
Of course, if you do a really nice job on this misadventure, you may want to stick with N and give your HO stuff to me.
Which just proves that God has a sense of humor. Or, as Einstien put it, God may be subtle but He is never malicious…
See the True Light: switch to O! Abandon the piddly heresies, and be reborn. Come over to our Mass(ive) scale, and delight in divine Power.
N has come a heck of a long way in the past decade or so, nice track with realistic rail sizes, better structures, better car variety and quality, far better locomotives. I was in HO when I got out in the late nineties, but now that I am gradually moving toward getting back in I think N is the way I’m going to go. Sure teher is more variety in HO, but there is enough in N to do what I want to do, and not so much that I have the temptation to buy everything like in HO.
My wife has expressed interest in the creativity end of scenery and structures. I have too much else going on to get into a scale that would tempt me to scratchbuild and handlay etc so we can focus on kitbash and scenery and only letter a few locos and not be detailing cars and all, there is only so much time. The Kato EL geeeps and SD’s look and run light years better than the atlas engines I had in teh early to mid 70’s.
What about Z scale??? [:D]
I saw a guy selling N stuff at a flea market this summer.A whole paper box full of cars and loco’s(Had 1 that looked like a Challenger in there) and a second box FULL of track and switches and power paks.He only wanted $45 for all of it!!! I only had $10 on me.

I’ve been pondering more on just having both scales, N and HO. My biggest concern is the money involved. The way I see it, two scales are twice as expensive as one…if you do things properly and buy quality. It also dilutes your efforts that would be devoted to a single layout and eats away your space.
On other hand, it is nice to be able to jump back and forth as the mood strikes! [:I] And how else will I know if I don’t try it?

Don’t you know that we are all part of His N scale model railroad? I’d like to see some photos of the progress He made while constructing it.[:D]
I switched from HO to N scale almost two years ago, and haven’t really looked back. I like the smaller stuff.[8D]
It’s been said on threads here about which is the better scale.: it depends on what you want in your layout. N can have great mountain scenery but far less detail, but some say less detail is a good thing, too. If space is a problem, a 5 foot wide HO penninsula can be only 3 feet wide in N with equivalent curves. I’ve found HO track only slightly easier to work with. I think the answer to the HO or N debate is like arguing about whether spaghetti tastes good. You may like it, but the next person won’t. Experiment to find what floats your boat.
I would advise you to model in both scales. You can go back an forth between them depending on your mood. This is what I did when I was in HO and started modeling in On30.
Am I doomed?
Well it would appear so at first glance but hope is always present so pay attention on your ride DOWN, and just before you get to the bottom you will see a door. This door will have writing on it. This writing will look like simple letters… but they could assist you. The letters CTT will be on that door. Carefully and slowly open the door. Not out of fear but out of concern for your fellow men and women because there is one tremendously large party going on at CTT. Yes, go over to their Forum and peer in… You will see stairs, elevators, and escallators, all going only one way…UP. Yes ride those implements UP, UP, UP to where all began. Yes, get back to O gauge man… you WILL be saved…
Long time HO modeler over here…who now has some N scale stuff to play with too. I was curious about N, and after a certain local hobby shop (Esthers) got flooded, the price was right. One thing I’ve noticed, is after you screw around with N scale parts…is just how huge HO stuff appears
I started in N 35 years ago, stuff was not that great back then, but boy did I have scenery!
Switched to HO because of the stuff that was available, never looked back, maybe I should have ! The N scale world has really improved , lots of nice stuff out there now.
