I have it booked at $48 to $96 which it far from as stated in played with condition.
RT: This is the die cast 1130. Difficult to locate. Most of the 1130’s were plastic bodies.
Origional Doyle books between $225-$450.

Okay my Greenberg has it what I quoted
but my Doyle does say what your saying so I guess but it don’t look like new to me. it looks more like the bottom end good basically what seller said but hes getting top dollar he started it at $19.99 so I guess hes tickled.
I was thinking the leprechaun juice got to a few at first lol
RT, the only thing that comes to mind here is “brain Damage”. their nuts.
After watching both a Railking Aerotrain with PS2 go for under $500, (to me a fair price) and a Railking Aerotrain with LocoSounds go for over $800 on E-bay all I can do is shake my head and wonder what people are thinking!
Yes. It’s pretty rare. They used up leftover diecast 2034 boilers. As far as brain damage is concerned, these things have commanded top dollar for decades. It will probably be worth the same money five years from now where ordering something from the new catalogs will be worth half.
crip … I totally agree … and I know that guy with the 1130 will be laughing the whole way to the bank … there’s nothing there … some fools pay anything for crap … just my opinion . I never have and never will buy at prices from a magazine … that’s what’s happened to the train collecting … people believe that overblown price list . It only takes a few dummies … LOL .
Fools and dummies are people who make value judgements about other people’s tastes. LOL…
Remember, the poster with the boldest font wins…
Sorry but I have to disagree. There is little chance that 1130 will be worth $500 in 5 years, unless some other unknowing person buys it. All that rust, chipped paint? No way that is LN condition. This is the kind of crap that drives me nuts, and then you go lambasting someone for their opinion.
Sounds to me like you are attempting to drive the price of Pre-War/Post-War junk up… 401K take a hit?

I did not lamblast anyone for making an opinion. I lamblasted him for name calling in the same manner. “Fools and dummies” Or does the name calling rule only apply to forum members posting to forum members? I should hope not.
I do not care what my postwar does. I was suggesting what the ebayer’s values might be. He is entitled to his own values without being labled a fool or dummy. Ebay buyers do not need your approval my approval, or anyone else’s. It’s his money, not yours or mine. Try to understand that.
The seller was honest in his description and did not hype rarity. It’s not your money, so just what is it that drives you nuts?
I am not sure but from what informatiuon I can locate on that engine and tender, the seller sure got paid very well!!
My Greenberg’s price guide lists it as $48 to $96 in good to excellent condition. If I were bidding I would have stopped at $22.00. It looks just like a 235 scout engine in 027, and I had major league trouble with that 235 engine. Finally I swapped out a newer motor assembly and removed the rear wheels from the engine to get it to fit.

I’m so sorry but only fools and dummies pay way over the price for items that are not and will not be worth it . Some of them even pay over retail for items they could pick up locally . See it everyday on ebay ! Items selling at or way above high retail on manufacturers sites and then pay overblown shipping fees … STUPID … TO SAY THE LEAST !!! [:o)]
Regardless of the merits of this particular train, sounds like you had two or more folks who really, really, really wanted something badly and were willing to pay for it. I might not have done it for this model, but I have overpaid a time or two myself.
It’s just that ebay used to be an auction where you used to find bargains … now it’s 80% reatail prices … why … because SOME ruined it for everyone . They should put the retailers in their own catagory so everyone does’nt have to wade through their crap to bid . Then the unimformed with a pocket full of plastic go nutsy and pay way more than should … of course they’ll want us to pay their blown up credit card bills like their overblown home motgages … as my wife told me bucu people are calling credit card companies filing and going bankrupt on them ! it’s true … she said hundreds a day . She takes their calls . I’m not talking of the rare or limited items … not that engine referred to … although extremely overbid .
Very interesting! The highest losing bidder was $425.55. The winning bidder ($430.55) must have really wanted the engine because his bid was made six days before the auction ended. There is no way of telling just how much he was willing to pay for it.
When I see an item like this, I have to remind myself that: It is still a “hobby” and, like my other hobby (Metal Detecting), there is the thrill of the hunt and the satisfaction in obtaining that prize.
Who knows. Anyway, I’m sure that both the Seller and the Buyer are happy. Very interesting!
A while ago I saw some Milwaukee decals go for over $100. These were decals! Now maybe there is a big collectors market for Milwaukee decals and I am unaware of it or there really are some s#%&*@s born every minute!
3railguy … my apologies if you took that personally or something … it was not intended to . Surely you have to admit there are whatever you may call them … on ebay . I tell it like it is … I in no way called anyone names personally … but there’s alot of them with MORE MONEY than BRAINS … as the old saying goes … there’s a few in our local club and collector’s group and I tell them that to their face . Yea … I’ve paid over a bit but not to the extremes some of those do in their bidding wars . There’s an old thing that should kick in … it’s called COMMON SENSE and it seems so many have lost it anymore . I’m not going to post in letters 4 inches high to reply to you though … LOL . [:-^]
