Amazing Second World War Kodachromes (including Chicago yards)

As a pro photographer this is getting a lot of buzz among my friends.

A Kodachrome fan in Russia has posted a collection amazing US OWI Second World War 4x5 Kodachromes on his site. Most of them are of the Douglas Aircraft Company and “Rosie the Riveter” but also a couple of equally amazing railway shots from the 1940s.

These were nifty. Especially the one of the family in Pie Town, NM. I’ve been there. Had pie.

Kodachrome is or rather, was, amazing stuff in terms of vivid color and longevity

Try this site for more great old color photos (many of the same ones)

Google in “images” Jack Delano sometimes

To search the best collection of color (and black and white) photographs from that era, go straight to the source:

The homepage for the entire FSA/OWI collection. Hard to beat for photos showing details from the late 1930’s to early 1940’s.

Gidday, Planes, trains, and attractive women, what more could one ask for! Thanks for the post.
