Anyone know if I can link a photo in a Amazon Prime Photo account to this forum? I have a site now that I can use to insert a photo in a thread but I don’t think it will last forever. Can I insert a photo from an Amazon Prime Photo account here? How?
Well, lots of people have viewed this post, including myself, but it seems no one has tried, or even knows if it is possible.
I myself have never had prime, so I cannot answer, but will “bump” this post back towards the top and hope that someone will be able to provide a better answer.
I’ll give it a try…

This is a link to one of my photos (I don’t normally use Amazon Photos)
I clicked the box in the upper right of the selected photo at Amazon, it opened a “Share” dialog box, I clicked on “Get Shared Link” (chain icon) Then click button to copy to clipboard. Now go to MR forum, Then Crtl+V to paste into the reply text area, NOT in the insert picture tab.
Flickr works better for me.

Good Luck, Ed
It worked! I just copied and pasted.
I don’t get the same results by copy>paste the link, Brent. I just get another link.
What exactly did you copy? From MR site or from Amazon?
If I right-click the image in your reply and select copy image address I get this:

Ed, I clicked on your link, and then left clicked on the photo to make it larger, then right clicked and hit “copy” and then pasted it in the usual posting spot on the forum. Easy Peasy. I am on a Mac if that makes any difference.
Thanks, Brent!
That should answer the OP’s original question. Kind of a round~about way but it has the desired results.
Well, I’ll be— That WAS easy!
Cheers! Ed
Thanks guys. Here is my attempt

Obviously that did not work. Trying again
Well…that worked …sorta. Inserted a link but no image. Click the link and it will open a new window with the image (2003 TBird) I was testing with.
I must be doing something wrong.
Looking closer at the picture in Amazon Photo, it has following caption under the picture.
This link will allow others to view and download this item.
Apparently, it allows you to share a photo by offering a link to the photo but the viewer must follow the link to the Amazone Photo web site to see the picture. It does not allow you to insert the photo directly into the forum like a normal photo sharing site.
Back to the drawing boards.
I don’t know how long it will stay. The one I did above following Brent’s instructions has gone now, but his is still there?
Actually all this photo testing is supposed to be done at the cs.trains “forum test site”

Copy the full size picture, not the link. Then paste the picture here.
Thanks. I did a test in the test section and that worked.
That seems to work for google photos too. You have to click on the photo, copy the photo and paste. I tried it in the test forum, I have no good RR pics to share, so I won’t bother you with pics of no interest to the community, but it worked.
But if you copy the photo and paste it in, you may be in violation if the rights to the image are reserved. I would NOT do that as a random test, or to the Kalmbach forum which could be liable for subsequent downloading of that content.
It seems evident that Amazon disagrees with the practice of hotlinking and has implemented the necessary approaches to prevent it through the use of the Kalmbach insert-image tool. Keeping these images as clickable links is likely to be the closest you legally get … and I would view disappearing ‘test’ inline hotlinks in posts with much more concern and retrospection about ‘what it could imply’ than y’all seem to have been giving it.
Has anyone actually looked at the Amazon Prime TOS to see their policies on hotlinking to image content?
