Ameri-Towne buildings

Aside from the opinions posted in the past concerning OGR (O Gauge Railroading), has anyone had any experience with the buildings product line? I am familiar with the K-lineville, Plasticville and Lionelville products and, after reading an ad, am curious about the OGR items. As always, many thanks.

I’ve found the OGR building kits to be well-made, and fun to paint and build. They are not snap together, but otherwise compare well, if not better, than Plasticville. If there is a building you are considering purchasing, I would go for it. A very nice product at a reasonable price.

mpzpw3: Appreciate your reply.

Definitely a step up from plasticville. They’re a great introduction to plastic kit building. For the seasoned modeler, these kits are great for bashing.

I’ve used a lot of Ameritowne building fronts. Great selection, no “flashing” to clean up, and they look great when painted. The back sides are scored, so it’s easy to subtract or add levels to a building. Since my layout is only 5x8, space is at a premium…which is why I use the “fronts”, and make the sides less deep. Most “ready made” buildings (like MTH) take up too much space on my small layout. Joe

Dennis…Joe: Sounds worth a try! Thanks.

WE have several of them and really like them. They fit well for turn of the century (19 to 20) time frame.

The Ameritowne building are very nice. Very realistic. In my case almost too realistic. My layout is more like a layout from the mid 50’s and my ameritowne pieces look alittle out of place. Lookfor the building with thebillboard on the side.

But I love them anyway. If I can aquire a 793 Terminal I may remove the factory to make room, but until then it stays!

Spankybird…Jim: I think I’m “sold”. Many thanks.

Gentlemen, although the Ameri Town buildings are from the late 1800s - early 1900’s era, they’re appropriate for any time period from then to the present day. Just look around–any city or small town that has been around since then has many structures from that time. When do you think your wooden train depots, switch towers, water tanks or churches were constructed?

Plus the walls are thick enough so if you put a light in it it doesn’t glow like a plasticville building
