This Loco looks like it may have a place on a portion of my layout built around the early 1900’s.
i like it! it looks powerful, yet small - durable, and light. and road specific details factor out research time!
This little engine works great on my branchline railroad. I have hauled a heavyweight combine and seven 40ft cars with little trouble on the level track.
I love my little 4-4-0 for my Galena and Platteville Railroad, but it does have a few stopping unexpectedly issues on my #6 Atlas turnouts. I have checked to make sure the tender wheels are picking up power, but whenever the drivers hit the plastic section the engine is prone to just stop dead. Perhaps when I start making my own turnout this problem will go away.
Other than this, the engine purrs like a kitten at low speeds, hauls up to 10 of my NMRA weighted cars on flat tracks and up to six up a 1 percent incline.
I believe that an SP / T&NO engine is the prototype for this model.
