"American Flyer" coaches in HO gauge

Is anyone making the “American Flyer” coaches in HO gauge currently? I know that a plastic kit was made a few years ago but I haven’t heard anything about it recently (and I am aware of the old American Flyer “shorty” version). I greatly admire the Weaver version in O gauge! I would hope that Walthers or Branchline would adress this need… Cheers- Richard W.

Eastern Car Works makes the kit now, but their website has been down for a couple of months now. You could try some of the internet dealers, you might call the Model Railway Post Office as they always had a good supply of ECW kits, usually at 15-20% off.

Gilbert’s toy trains were AMERICAN FLYER , and was oiniginally ‘0’ gage (30’s) that went to ‘S’ gage. (post war). I don’t recall any HO products except under the ‘Gilbert’ label. I had an HO ALCO DL 600B.

Check with MIZELL’S TRAINS in Colorado.

Gilbert made lots of HO stuff and it was very nice for its time. They did make a New Haven Osgood-Bradley style coach and RPO. They were a heavy plastic (maybe Bakelite) and had cast metal floors and lighting. Those are the cars that got the “American Flyer” nickname because of the popularity of American Flyer trains. They were made by A. C. Gilbert.
