Walthers has a couple of structures made by American Model Builders that fit my layout. How are these to assemble, and how does the finished product look?[?][?]
These are top notch kits.
I have one of the grain elevators and it is very nice. Not quite as easy as a Cornerstone structure becaue you do have to do some cutting of trim pieces. However, it didn’t take much longer to put together. Some things you get with them is separate nut, bolt, washer details, and very nice windows. I have not built a wood structure form them, but I did build a wood caboose and again, nothing short of great.

AMB Laserkits are very well done kits. They are probably the easiest of the wood kits to make as they often use peel and stick construction for windows and doors. Being a wood kit, they need a little care with painting as water based acrylics can warp them if you are not careful. Even if things do warp prior to construction you can flatten them out easy enough under a pile of books. AMB, JL Innovative and Blair line are 3 companies that make great looking mid priced craftsman style kits that will enhance a layout without breaking the bank. I am very partial to this type of kit and find them a joy to construct.
