Amherst Show Coming Soon

It’s only 4 weeks away. Who’s planning on being there?

Counting down the days!

So is that the 25th of January?? At the usual place?

Sent in my payment for a bus ride and ticket the day the flyer came.

Great show, but I have learned to plan which booths I want to visit and make a building by building list, with booth numbers. Makes it so I don’t wander around looking for a certain dealer. There are plenty of other booths that I pass going from preference to preference to keep me busy the whole day.

Yes Dave, the bus ride from VT/NH is the 25th, the show goes on Sunday too.

Have fun,

Richard

January 25 and 26 at the Eastern States Exposition grounds, West Springfield, MA.

I’ll be there all weekend as I have for the past 23 years !!! A very enjoyable way to spend a winter weekend in January !!!

I have moved from the Boston area to Delaware, so, no, I won’t be at this show for the foreseeable future. But, it’s one worth taking in.

I hope to make the Springfield Show in 2022. In 2020 I am going to the October Timonium Train Show.

.

They still have the October Show dates lilsted as “Tentative” on their schedule. I hope they solidify the date soon, or I might not be able to work my schedule around the show.

This year, it’ll be my eighth annual “Great Winter Road Trip” to The Show.

745 miles each way, with three friends along for the ride.

Elk Creek Logging Company will be at the show, Young Building 74.

3 weeks and counting. What’s on your shopping list? Kalmbach Publishing will be in the Better Living Center, Section 21, Tables A, B, & G.

I am going on Sunday. I prefer the less crowded option. My shopping goals are simple; - A smooth-side Lackawanna passenger car - a gondola or two - Maybe an intermodal car. I expect the first one to be hard to find. Older Rivarossi cars can be tough to find at shows.

We’ll be there both days. It takes me two days to see it all. I usually do the Better Living, Stroh and Young buildings on Saturday and leave the Mallary building for Sunday. I’ve got a shopping list made up, but the best thing about that show is finding stuff there that you didn’t know existed.

Living in the NW suburbs of Boston, it’s only an easy 1 1/2 hours away. Been attending for probably 15 years, almost every year. Last year “stumbled” over Berrett Hill Trains, i.e. Touch Toggles. Spent 30 minutes with Kevin and decided to do a “make over” of my 10 track yard panel so as to have turnout indication. It‘s my present major project ( got a late start last year and I tend to take spring and summer off from our hobby for golf, Corvette, and other summer activities). Hopefully should get it finished before Springfield. Regardless, my point is, if you can afford the time, you just might find a vendor/product that you might not have considered anything about. If it is something/someone associated with our hobby, you’ll find it there. It’s one of the very few things I look forward to every year, hobby related or not.

We’re now down to serious countdown time, two weeks until showtime. If you check the show website you can find the list of vendors as well as the floor plan for all 4 buildings. You shouldn’t have any problem locating Monson #3 operating outside the Better Living Center.

Updated show information is now available in the Upcoming Events in the Resources section of the forum.

Here’s hoping that Mother Nature is nice to us that weekend. Looking forward to another fun weekend at the show. ---- Ken

One week to go. The larger layouts will begin setting up on Thursday. Vendor tables will be put in place and most dealers will arrive on Friday Monson #3 should arrive late Friday afternoon. The track will be put in place and she’ll be under steam Saturday morning to sound the opening whistle at 9:00AM. Check the show web site for the vendor list and the floor plan so you can get the maximum benefit from your visit.

If you’re unable to attend in person, check the Virtual Railfan web site. They are planning on doing live feeds on both days of the show.

Medium range weather report from the NWS for West Springfield states rain/snow likely both Saturday and Sunday, temperatures above freezing howevrr…
