Amherst Show Questions

I have never been before, but plan on going next weekend. Does this show tend to be mostly dealers, or are there some collectors trying to move unwanted goods? Would this show be a good place to buy track? I need some turnouts and thought I might be able to get a better deal there then online.

Thanks

Nick

I guess I would say, “all the above”.

Here is a link.

There are PDFs of the vendors, exibitors, layouts. Just about everything in model railroading, even 7 1/2 gauge live steam displays.

Bring lots of cash as the line to the ATM can be loooooong. Food lines can be long also.

Just about the largest train show on the east coast. I have been going for many years.

Yeah, it’s a lot of fun and one of the best days you can spend at a train show. There will be a lot of operating layouts, too, so even if you’re not in the market for anything, it’s worth the price of admission just to see what other modellers are doing.

I find that it’s a great place to pick up detail parts. Y’know, those silly little things like barrels or Texaco gasoline pumps that you would never order on-line because you get killed by the shipping. Last year I got a pair of beer reefers from Greenway, and some subway car end gates from Images Replicas. I got some seagulls, and machine tools to equip my engine houses.

Have fun. Regretably, I won’t be there because we’ll be up in Maine skiing next week. (Hmmm, that’s fun too, come to think of it.)
