AMT resumes dual-mode locomotive testing

Those engines are WAY too heavy…

The same locomotives are operating since about a year on NJT , these locos surely don’t exceed the maximum pounds per axle limit . I would like to know the real reason behind the CN decision , political , or “we know better than anybody else” …

Could it be that the locomotive trucks are too rigid? Maybe they should be using the technique of the “steerable” truck to provide needed flexibility and avoid spreading the rails and going on the ground. Comments please???

The ALP-45’s are no heavier than a GP-40.

They use the same trucks as the NJT ALP-46 electric locomotive that have been in active service for 10 years without de-railing incident.
