End of Feb, I am taking a quick Amtk roundtrip KS-Washington DC. Will ride #30 from Chi and come back on #51 in a Viewliner slpr. Questions: 1. What is the food service like in the new diner/lounge being used on the Cap? (just read about it in the March issue) 2. How do the Viewliners compare to Superliners? 3. How many & what kind of eating places are now in CUS? For any forum members in the area, I will be @ CUS on 2/28 connecting from #4 to #30 and on 3/1 changing from #51 to #3. Drop buy & the coffee is on me.
Q1 - I haven’t ridden the Cap recently so I can’t help you there.
Q2 - I’ve always found the Viewliners to be more cramped since there are no luggage racks in the car light on a Superliner, plus you have the toilet in the standard bedrooms. However, the upper birth has a window.
Q3 - There are lots of food places in Chicago US, everything from McDonalds and Pizza Hut to many specialty restaurants and bars. Within a block or two of the station there are also lots of other restaurants. Several blocks north at the North Western station, there is a full food court. You can get there my walking out the north station platforms and popping up across the street from the NW station.
