There is a wildfire in NM right at the summit of Raton Pass. Both the Amtrak line and I-25 are closed. Now that Abo Pass has two main tracks operating there may be less congestion.
What a way to get a good look at a “new” railroad! Or is that nighttime operation (when we traveled on that train we went over Raton in daylight but we may have been late)?
Daylight both ways, except for part of the east end in Kansas near the diversion point.
