Amtrak adding capacity for September papal visit
In case anyone is wondering, the “Event Extra” services are operating between Washington and Philadelphia ONLY. This indicates potential use of MARC equipment.
Of course you will not be able to take SEPTA trains once you get to PHL for at least a couple of those days, given the SEPTA ticket restrictions.
Correction: Septa Regional Rail will be running on all regional rail lines Sept 25th, 26th and 27th . Plenty of special ‘papal passes’ are still available. The restrictions are the limited number of stations that will be open for boarding on those days. This is being done to ensure equipment can be staged in appropriate locations to handle the expected high demand. Check Septa’s web site for details.
