Amtrak adds New York Washington Acela round trip
I thought Amtrak was America’s Railroad. How about putting New Orleans-Orlando back instead.
Why isn’t NYP-BOS ever the beneficiary of such largess? Is it because Amtrak is maxed out for drawbridge openings in CT? After all the taxpayers bucks spent for extending the electrification NHV-BOS, you would think the powers that be could arrange for added bridge closings.
Unless and until more frequent service comes to that end of the Corridor Peter Pan, Bolt Bus, Megabus and Lucky Strike are going to continue to hack away at Amtrak’s marketshare. You would think the federal government and local authorities on the east end would want more train service in order to justify their their investnent.
Restoration of Chicago-Florida service by way of Indianapolis-Louisville-Nashville-Chattanooga-Atlanta-Jacksonville is long overdue.
