Amtrak CEO Stepping Down

You sound like you’ve come over to my side – a real conservative! We’ve complained since LBJ about politics being forced onto us.

No they aren’t and you know that. Amtrak CEO stepping down has a lot to do with RR discussion, even if it is motivated by politics.

PS If you want to see me playing sports in a swimsuit, I can oblige, but I don’t think anyone (esp me) wants to see that. And it won’t be free.

Zugmann has a point, they aren’t necessarily being forced onto everyone unless they choose to let it be forced onto them

I didn’t say it didn’t. I said that we have no idea what caused the resignation, and that it’s conjecture to say otherwise.

I don’t know – you were the one that said we shouldn’t neuter the discussion. Your photo may drive huge numbers of hits on the site – for whatever reason.

What?

So I have a choice?

Technically if you don’t decide to bring them up thats what I usually do

If this turns out to be the case, let me know. I have some photos of my hippie life in the late 60s that would bring in some hits, but I want to be paid, too.

Anything with a Harley Davidson Motorcycle would catch my attention - they are (in my opinion) the most superior motorcycle

LBJ didn’t force politics - he created equality

Frankly, I don’t see it as any more than Gardner not wanting to be the figurehead Chainsaw Al as the “cuts” are made.

I think there are sizable cuts to be made at L’Enfant Plaza (or wherever all the lawyers and administrators in that top-heavy system are) but I am really long past hoping that DOGE actually knows how to shake waste and inefficiency out of an agency effectively. It’s not ‘quitting’ when you have to indulge that sort of thing… the politix-as-usual at Amdreck are bad enough!

Maybe he’s set for life and wants to enjoy his leisure time. Maybe, heaven forbid, he even has hobbies and things to do. I retired at 62 after working part time for 4 years. I haven’t regretted it since. I have plenty of time for railfanning, fishing, traveling the world, etc. I can even do things during the week, when it’s not crowded everywhere. In the immortal words of Maggie Smith in Downton Abbey “What’s a weekend?”.

Agree my City Police force uses them exclusively and I complimented the Chief on his decision. Nothing says America more than the engine roar of a Harley.

Trying to get my Congressperson to eject Amtrak from the Texas HSR (ex-Texas Central). We need to bring back Brightline to the corridor. Get Amtrak out of Texas HSR completely. We do not need to be another California.

I had three bikes over a 15 year riding stint. The best was a BMW R100RT. It was a sweet machine; according to one of my neighbors, it sounded to him like a sewing machine. It was comparatively quiet as well as smooth and comfortable.

I had planned to take the BMW to Australia, but about two weeks before I was due to move, I was hit from behind at an intersection near Fort Worth by a motorist. Thankfully, I was wearing leathers and a full face helmet. Had I not been doing so I probably would not be writing this post.

In Australia I bought a Ducati Monster. It was a fun ride. I rode it more than 100,000 miles during the five years that I lived in Australia. The longest ride was from Melbourne to Alice Springs.

Since this is a platform to discuss trains, anyone contemplating a trip to Australia should put the Indian Pacific and Ghan on their train ride bucket list. They are great trains. I rode the Indian Pacific from Sydney to Perth; it was one of the best train rides of my life.

Why is it always cry victim or villan?

Government bloat= villan
Taxpayer=victim

Well for some. A beer, a bag of chips and a football game is not enough to keep them happy. They want to keep their civil rights. So when a Judge raises basic civil rights concerns that DUE PROCESS was not followed then the judge is demonized and threatened by the White House. I think everyone should be concerned. If it was just the Judge I would be willing myself to let it go but look at the flights in more detail, you have the video.

Just can’t beat that “created equality”.

Absolutely seeing activist judges, that think they can do as they Please with impunity, and to a degree they are able to, but shouldn’t be.
