This is going to improve Amtrak how exactly? Any results management doesn’t like will get tossed into the bit bucket. This is a government run train wreck we are talking about here unable to compete in the market because it doesn’t have to. Not a private sector company that has to compete or go out of business.
Amtrak competes against car, bus and plane travel all the time. If it did not provide an effective service that the public wants, it would indeed loose to the competition and go out of business. The foregoing is true regardless of whether it is government owned or not.
