The photo quality is commendable and very much appreciated.
Do trains maintain speed through the re-alignment and approach grades?
There’s a lot more that needs to be accomplished along the NEC to raise speeds. One of the most obvious by far is for new tunnels under Baltimore. It’s my understanding that Amtral already has all the rights and whatnot which were passed down over the decades from the PRR to Penn Central and since to Amtrak. If every last possible project were done on there, we’d really have something there.
Many Class I railroad bridges are in serious neglected condition and should be repainted and in general had needed corrective work performed on them. We will eventually rue the day for letting the bridges deteriorate.
