When and where did AMTK get a car with a truck having a 580 feet long wheelbase?
I try to keep up with equipment procurement, but failure tastes bitter. Missed it entirely.
Did someone just say inspection pit?
To answer Francis’ question, the intention was to allow for an entire trainset of cars to be service simulataneously . A 600 foot-long pit and building should be long enough to service up to seven or eight cars at once.
Interesting to note when I blew up the photo - Those “Big Ass Fans” on the ceiling of the facility. No, I’m not swearing - they come from the Big Ass Fan Company, makers of several styles of home, business and industrial fans. Don’t believe me? Theye’re just a key stroke away, on the internet. Happy Viewing. www.
A maintence shop in Hialeah, Fl. Why Hialeah, AMTRAK does not even go to Miami. Surely seems out of the way to me. How does the equipment get down there?
to robert abney: where have you been the last 41 years? Amtrak has always had 2, sometimes 3 trains a day to Miami. the present ‘Miami’ Amtrak station is in Hialeah, adjacent to this maintenance shop. it’s about a 5 minute walk from a Tri-Rail station.
