[?]Does amtrak have any strenght tests like NS has where you have to hang off the side of a box car for 3 minutes…I know they have to be able to carry 50 lbs.

when I hired out with the NS we had a former amtrak conductor in our our class and we asked him the same question and he said no but he hired out 18 years ago so I don’t know if they changed thier practices or not
I also wanted to add the NS hang test is a minute and 15 seconds a side for a total of 2.5 minutes in reality it isn’t that hard I worried about it for a while but what I did is go down to the local RR museum and tried it, took a stopwatch along they normally charge an admission but when I told them what I wanted to they let me in for free, and it put my mind at ease but for some reason really big muscular men had a problem with it go figure for once not being tall paid off for me
[:I]Thanks…I had my interview in Beech Grove last week. It went well I thought…He said it would be about 2 weeks before they let me know. Eight of us took the test & I don’t know how many got interviews. Unfortunately they were only going to hire 1 person
