In this month’s TRAINS magazine, it states that Amtrak is considering chaninging the Cardnial’s western termanus to St. Louis. I have some concerns. One in a while we ride the Cardnial to Chicago. Also, Purdue University is located in Lafayette and if Amtrak stops running the Cardnial to Chicago the that leaves the students high and dry for rail scervice. Do you really think that Amtrak will change the western tremanus of the Cardnial?
On the Cardinals off days, Amtrak runs the Hoosier State between Chicago and Indy. One would think that if Amtrak moved the Cardinal to St Louis, they would make the Hoosier State a seven day a week train. Doing so would keep service to Lafayette.
