Amtrak Diesel Engines, Pax cars, Amfleet etc..

Hello[bow]

I’d like to buy some H0 Amfleet cars, except Bachman, which are not really good looking to me,

do you know others brand ?

Also, i’m searching books or website related to all the AMTRAK fleet, as i’m not living in the US,

i have to admit that i’m a little bit lost between Amtrak, Amtrak West, colours, phase etc…[:I]

Thanks a lot in advance.

Cheers,

Walthers made Amfleet cars in several paint schemes. I don’t think they are in production but they shouldn’t be hard to find.

Bachmann, in it’s Spectrum series, puts out a very good looking Amfleet car. Walthers has an excellent series of “Heritage” Amtrak cars. These are basically the cars Amtrak purchased from the railroads at Amtrak’s inception. Over the years, these cars were upgraded, and possibly the most notable modification was the conversion from steam heat/air conditioning, to HEP (head end power. Several manufacturors offer a wide variety of Amtrak locomotives, from the early "E"s and "F"s, all the way to the current General Electric P-42s. So, depending upon which Amtrak era you’re modeling, there are some excellent models out there for you.
