The designation AMD-103 was the basic design that includes the P32, P40, and P42. Possibly other variations.
Actually, I don’t think that the P42 is THE number one engine of Amtrak. I think the Acela Express is the number one today (yes, I know it is a “trainset”, but it acts as one engine).
To answer your question, however, the previos post is right.
