Interrupt that and there will be some issues… 60 MILLION for a study is NONSENSE, and 10+ years to replace is a mess too… They do NOT need a “Big Dig” disaster…

Tank cars do not use the B&P tunnel if you exclude. corn oil going to Mrs Philbert’s margerine factory. They use CSX’s Howard St tunnel.

I’d think that we would prefer tankcars containing flammables to bypass the city a dozen or so miles to the west and north, rather than in any tunnel. But Amtrak needs to call at a station in the center of the city.

How many studies have been done already?? 3-years and $60 million for another study is frustrating for this tax payer.

Upgrading the Baltimore is an investment to our mobility. Not a disaster as you claim, Bruce. Didn’t you pay attention to Ira’s post? There are alternate routings while construction is in progress.

A fair amount of the tunnel runs through an depopulated urban wasteland. One solution would daylighting and straightening out the curves and allowing access to transportation in a poor part of the city: at less cost than tunneling.

Why is this even an issue. Should have been done decades ago.

Like to see a follow up on this

Move forward and do both the B&P Tunnel and CSX’s Howard
Street tunnel at the same time. Modernize Baltimore’s aging
infrastructure.

Get 'er done!

The price tag seems a little steep, especially since the matter (I understand) has already been studied pretty thoroughly.

Agree with Bruce. This dosen`t take 60B$ and 10 years. Make that 100B$ and 20 years+ years by the time the enviros are done. Only in gov. can this happen. BIG gov. at that! Just a few of my thoughts.
