Here’s another black eye for CN…#### The Chicago Tribune (Jon Hilkevitch: Getting Around) is reporting that Amtrak has filed a complaint against CN with the federal Suraface Transportation Board. "It’s almost a perfect record, but one of delay and passenger despair: 99 percent of Amtrak’s Chicago-to-New Orleans trains grind to a halt because of freight traffic under the control of the Canadian National Railway, according to Amtrak. Amtrak’s complaint marks the first test of a provision in a 2008 law that established on-time performance standards as part of a program designed to improve passenger rail travel. "#### “The delays totaled the equivalent of more than 26 days, Amtrak said.”
‘“We are reviewing the Amtrak petition. We had been discussing these matters with Amtrak for much of 2011 and are disappointed Amtrak chose to file this action rather than continue those talks,” CN spokesman Patrick Waldron said.’ Uh huh… 99% late rate on Amtrak and they spent the whole year talking?
I’ve only listed a few snippets of the story above. For the full story, with Amtrak spokesman Marc Magliari and U.S Senator Dick Durbin (IL) teeing off on CN, please click on the link below:#### http://www.chicagotribune.com/classified/automotive/traffic/ct-met-getting-around-0213-20120213,0,3392577.column#### I can understand some of the delays on the Chicago - Joliet section because there are numerous at grade crossings that CN doesn’t control. That doesn’t exuse them from being responsible though.#### CC
