Amtrak GREAT DOME 10031 TO SLO AGAIN!!!
A LAST MINUTE equipment swap is making this possible once again:
Another DOME trip over the ENTIRE SURFLINER LINE today–tomorrow
Train 564 cars will be ROBBED for 775 today THursday 8-31-06 and 774 Friday 9-1-06.
Amtrak Surfliner Train 566 apparently never departed LA making this swap necessary.
The amtrak phone agent just CONFIRMED my guess!!!
Current Info as of 1120am 8-31-06.

It was supposed to be on 567/578/589, but then the 119 suffered a bad order 480V cable and the Horizon train was swapped with 583’s equipment so it could go to the yard. 583’s equipment was supposed to run today as 564/573/582, so that could be a good bet for the Horizons. Dome was running as of yesterday, made it all the way up to SLO and back, so it might be running still.
retiredment of the Horizon train is only 8 days away, at least for this year.***

It is very much appreciated!
Now for the news about Amtrak breaking the regular equipment cycle to BLOCK an SLO DOME trip. Saturday and Sunday train 768 is apparently REQUIRED to be bilevel Surfliner equipment for the Del Mar race crowds which is why todays UNUSUAL equipment change was made.
probably 95 percent of the time 775 runs thru LA with the NO equipment changes from San Diego.
That is why I posted the earlier now useless heads up for the Central Coast.
I just posted the following update item elsewere:

UPDATE 447pm I just saw 582 with the DOME and Horizons on the Fullerton Railcam from Trainweb.
NO SLO DOME today north of LA!!! DARN!!!
Amtrak certainly surprised me with the quick equipment swap at LAUPT today thursday 8-31-06.
Amtrak really swapped consists today to prevent a saturday train 768 run with horizons.
They BROKE the regular equipment cycle WOW!!!
I think 582 turns to become train 595 to depart San Diego 820pm northbound to overnight in LA???
