Amtrak hindered by snowstorm for third straight day
What a disaster, I thought trains could run in all kinds of weather?
Someone on here poo-pood Amtrak service and said how airlines handled bad weather well. Tell that to the 600,000 passengers stranded yesterday or the 115,000 flights which have been cancelled in the last 30 days. Yes, Amtrak stinks, so do airlines. Is there enough room in the terminals for all those people to sleep on the floors?
One to three inches of snow? This is a running Amtrak joke. Isn’t it? That isn’t even enough snow for the kids to play in. Who is so incompetent they can’t deal with less than a foot of snow? Besides everybody living south of I-70 and east of the Appalachians.
So much for Amtrak being part of the national transportation system. It can no longer be taken seriously as a mode of transportation. But it can be used as the poster child for everything that goes wrong when government is running things unconstitutionally. For that purpose, the performance is perfect.
This is what is to be expected when those in government mandated management with zero experience in the real world start to run things according to what the book says. That would be the same book written by a big government university professor with zero experience in the real world and taught to the clueless in universities by other big government professors with no real world experience.
Nice photo Mr. Blaise.
The goose is loose again! When will he learn that Amtrak employees are human and so are the passengers. Would anyone like for a train to be stalled in the middle of nowhere, because the signals lost power or the switches froze.! Lets put him in charge of running Amtrak and see how long he would last!!! Pull up BBC news and see how the English are handling catastrophic weather.

Do not know where you get your weather info, more then a foot along the coast. Of coarse the roads in your world are paved in gold.
Mr. Guse,
12,000 flights cancelled within the last week. BNSF struggling to maintain service, as described in Newswire; CSX delaying trains in much of its system. Highways paralyzed, and not just in the south. What is it you don’t understand? Amtrak maintained service with some cutbacks.
@JEFFERY GUSE - ADDITIONAL snow.
The entire area is already thick with snow. The point is it’s not going to get any thinner.
You may possibly have noticed coverage of this particular storm on Fox News or in the Washington Times or whatever it is right wingers read. It’s a big one. Virtually all forms of transportation have been affected. Amtrak’s done pretty well considering.
The all-weather alternative to flying.
This is a time for Amtrak to shine and to
prove its worth as a reliable passenger mode.
Not a time to rush to cancellations and annulments.
Mr. Guse:
What is that ersatz tea you drink? Are you saying we should hold up the private sector as the only model for efficient, honest work? Just like Enron, I guess, or the financial industry as a whole heading into 2007-08. That was a fine example of the private sector untethered by burdensome government regulation.
The Gusenut says that: “3 inches of snow is not enough snow for the kids to play in”. Since when does the clueless Goose, who hasn’t reproduced (thank God!!) know anything about kids playing in snow???
We all love Amtrak!!! Happy Valentine’s Day!!!
“That would be the same book written by a big government university professor with zero experience in the real world and taught to the clueless in universities by other big government professors with no real world experience.” – Yes, Jeffy, we should all get our info from Fox News like you.
You know in the beginning all this political banter was interesting and amusing but now it’s getting to be downright boring. Why can’t we just stick to railroad related topics? Ho hum.
Goosemeister, kindly do us a big favor and put a lid on your bullshit: also you would do yourself a favor by not making an ass out of yourself.
To all, kids have access to this site. Lets watch the language!
anyone who thinks trains can run in any weather has never run a train and I do mean run you don’t drive a train ther is no steering wheel
