Of course, not. But then I once drove from Ritzville to Spokane in a half hour.
Stereotyping red states? Huh?
The original poster was talking about going from Indy to Chicago, not Boise to Salt Lake City or from Portland to the moon.
That is fine that its faster to drive in the Northwest. We are talking about the travel time in a completely different part of the country. There are more than twice as many people just in the city of Chicago then there are in the entire state of Idaho. Good luck avg 50 mph on the interstates around here let alone 70 mph or more that you can cruise at for long stretches out there.
I don’t think anyone is trying to stereotype “red” states, they are just saying there is no comparison between the two as far as transportation times go.

Again…(sigh)…for the record, neither Portland, nor Seattle, nor Spokane, nor Eugene is located in a red state. Neither are urban traffic problems limited to Chicago, even if you think so.
Driving Seattle to Portland is comparable to driving Indy to Chicago, both in terms of distance and urban congestion.
The point YOU are missing is that the claims of it taking “just as long” to drive Indy to Chicago as it is to take the train are highly suspect. Hint: There’s more than one way in and out of Chicago by road besides your Danny Boy parkway.
Call in sick, take the day off ride up with your wife.
On a Friday? She may take the train home and make you drive the car back.[:D][:D][:D]
You were the one that came up with the red state comment and I was using the examples you came up with to compare driving. I obviously know that urban traffic problems are not limited to Chicago but if you look at the numbers IL is usually up there in commuter time. The Census Bureau says #4 longest time.

I didn’t miss the point at all, that was the point of my entire post. What is so suspect about driving taking just as long. As I said in my previous post, it took me three hrs to go 50 miles and I wasn’t anywhere near the “Danny Boy Parkway” Everyone in the metro area has taken your “hint” and taken the other options in and out of Chicago.
The point YOU seem to be missing is that I have recent experience driving on a weekend in the area the original poster was talking about and I know how long it takes to drive in this area. If you’ve been in the area driving around on a weekend recently then fine but to say from 2000 miles away that we are full of bs doesn’t make any sense.
